Prestige-BACL Launch ₹1,800 Crore Convention Hub at Bengaluru Airport

Prestige and BACL Unveil Major Convention Complex at Bengaluru Airport City

Prestige Group and Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL) announced a convention and mixed use commercial hub spanning 1.5 million square feet, to be developed at a construction cost of about ₹1,800 crore. The announcement, made on 11 June 2026, marks a significant milestone in the transformation of Bengaluru Airport City into a vibrant urban destination.

The hub will include a high-end performing arts center, convention center and spaces for hotels, hospitality, office, and retail stores. The convention and exhibition centre is capable of hosting up to 8,000 delegates. The performing arts space is proposed to have a seating capacity of 2,500.

Hotel Brands and Hospitality

Prestige Group is looking to develop an initial inventory of over 350 keys across two hospitality brands, such as the convention-focused Marriott Marquis and ultra-luxury hotel Marriott St. Regis properties within the development. These hotel brands are designed to capture both conference delegates and luxury travelers using the airport corridor.

Timeline and Architect

Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), a London based architectural firm, has been appointed for the development, which is expected to start by 2027 and be completed by 2031. Designed by global architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), the development is set to draw inspiration from Bengaluru's dual identity as a garden city and a centre for technology and innovation. Sustainability considerations have been integrated into the design through a large architectural canopy that will support solar power generation, rainwater harvesting and noise mitigation, the KPF team said.

Bengaluru Airport City Context

BACL has been founded to develop the Airport City at BLR Airport as a world-class destination of a truly mixed-use development, consisting of Business Parks, Technology Hubs, Health District, Convention & Exhibition Centre, Knowledge Park, Hospitality, Central Park, a multipurpose Concert Arena, and more. The Prestige-BACL partnership represents one component within the broader Airport City masterplan currently taking shape north of the city center.

BIAL has nearly 4,000 acres of land as part of the concession agreement. Out of this, 400 acres have been allotted for Airport City. The aim is to develop a hub for business, hospitality, and broader economic growth in north Bengaluru.

Prestige Group's Scale and Track Record

As of March 2026, the Group has delivered 316 projects spanning 212 million sqft and has a pipeline of 135 projects across 227 million sqft. The company has a rich history of more than 30 years during which it has been instrumental in the making of some of the Indian city's most preferred residential societies, office centers, IT parks, and luxury apartments.

Within Bengaluru specifically, the company owns over 205+ projects primarily in the city, both residential and commercial, such as UB City, Forum Mall, Golfshire, Acropolis, Prestige Shantiniketan, Lakeside Habitat, and many more. These range from established shopping destinations and office towers to large residential townships, positioning the developer as a longstanding anchor in the city's mixed-use and commercial real estate sectors.

Economic and Business Events Impact

The convention centre hub will enable the tech city to attract global scale conference and international exhibitions. Once operational, the facility is expected to host international conferences, exhibitions, corporate events and cultural gatherings, strengthening Bengaluru's position as a major MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) destination.
